Robyn R. Warhol and Diane Price Herndl. "About Feminisms".
In Warhol and Herndl, Eds., Feminisms. Ibid. 1991, pp. ix-xvi
They write:
We agreed that someone should edit a comprehensive anthology of feminist
criticism...We've used the plural form "feminisms, " rather than
"feminism," to acknowledge the diversity of motivation, method,
and experience among feminist academics. From the outside, "feminism"
may appear monolithic, unified, or singularly definable. The more intimately
one becomes acquainted with feminist criticism, however, the more one sees
tyhe multiplicity of approaches and assumptions inside the movement...Such
diversity--if fostered, as it has been in some feminist thought--can be
a model for cultural heterogeneity.
